SACRAMENTO – The Parks Forward Commission will meet on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 9:00
a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Sacramento at the California State Capitol, Room 112. The
public is welcome to attend.
In February 2015, the 12-member Parks Forward Commission adopted its long-term plan for a financially sustainable and relevant California State Park System. The recommendations were developed after nearly two years of outreach and study that included public meetings, discussions with State Parks leadership and staff, surveys, social media interaction, and independent analyses conducted for the Commission. Responding to the recommendations, the Department of Parks and Recreation has undertaken a transformation effort to implement improvements within the Department.
At its August 16 meeting, the Commission will discuss the status of transformation and next steps. Department Director Lisa Mangat will update the Commission on the transformation efforts. There will also be an opportunity for public comment. A detailed meeting agenda will be posted to the Parks Forward web site prior to the meeting.
