Public Outreach
Public input is a critical piece of the Parks Forward process. In order to facilitate comment from Park users, partnering organizations, and other stakeholders, the Initiative held two series of public workshops. The first series, done in collaboration with the California State Park and Recreation Commission, included of 10 workshops throughout the state in September and October 2013. The workshops gathered new ideas on how to improve efficiency, create financial sustainability, and better leverage partnerships within California State Parks. The second series of public workshops was held in late May and early June of 2014. The purpose of these workshops was to gather input on the recommendations of the April 23rd Staff Draft Report. The recommendations focus on creating a more effective California Department of Parks and Recreation to better provide park access to all Californians, engage young people, protect our state’s treasured natural and cultural resources and create healthy communities.
